Distribution: Nearctic and Neotropical Region. Only one migratory species.

Habitat: Forestal areas with proximity of open areas where they search for food.

Feeding: Mainly carrion. They can include other elements in the diet, as vegetables and eggs.

Breeding: Natural cavities on the ground, rocks or trees. 1-2 eggs. Incubation 40-60 days. Nestling period from 2 to 6 months.
