Size: Between 14 cm (Brown Jacamar, Brachygalba lugubris) and 30 cm (Great Jacamar, Jacamerops aureus).
Distribution: Neotropical Region. Not migratory.
Habitat: Forestal, peferring low vegetation and semi-open areas.
Feeding: Flying insects, captured by short flights from a perch.
Breeding: They dig a hole in a sand bank or a termite mound. 2-4 eggs. Incubation 20-22 days. Nestling period 19-26 days.
